Who we are

Ibadan Sickle Cell Foundation (IBSCF) is a non-governmental organization founded in February, 2018 and duly registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission Incorporated Trustees Act (109585).

The foundation was borne out of the passion to increase accurate public knowledge about sickle cell disorder and advocate for better health care for sickle cell patients especially the indigents.

We also stand to let people living with the condition know that there is hope for them and they can live a normal life when there is proper care and attention.

We envision a society where the burden of sickle cell is drastically reduced and people living with the disease have access to quality, specialized health care at the most affordable rate.

OUR ACTIVITIES

We create awareness and educate people about sickle cell disorder through programs primarily focused on the youths
We organize medical outreaches for people living with sickle cell disorder, give them their routine drugs and offer them free medical consultations
We give genetic counseling so that people especially those with sickle cell traits (sickle cell carriers, genotype HbAS) can make informed decisions
We offer clinical services to sickle cell patients who are in pains and those suffering from complications associated with the disease such as leg ulcers
We have monthly support group meetings both onsite and online for sickle cell patients, care givers and advocates where people can share their experiences, draw strength from one another and also learn how to live healthy and productive lifestyles.
